Background: There are three remarkable events in the history of Cadiz, which inspired the composer to write this song.
These are: the Landing of a dozen of whales in May 1967, the Proclamation of Cadiz as a Charter City, and
the invasion of pirates in December 1968.
The song was first recognized when it was adjudged as the Best Ilonggo Composition during the city
government’s “Search for Ambahanon nga Cadiznon” in January 1995. However, it was only in June 16, 1998
when the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its regular session enacted Ordinance No. 4, SP Resolution No. 98-68,
declaring the song as the official song of Cadiz City .
The song has its choral version which was arranged by Noel Magbanua and interpreted by the group called
the “Tingog sa Naaminhan” composed of: Perfecto B. Torreverde, Jr. playing keyboard; Elymayo S. Diola
(soprano), Noel G. Magbanua (Alto), Primo R. Ravina (tenor), and Ruben K. Demonteverde (bass).
